Home / HIP Agriculture
Hawaii Institute of Pacific Agriculture (“HIP Ag”) aims to practice and teach ecologically conscious approaches to agriculture in order to empower individuals and communities to cultivate alternative systems of living that restore human and environmental health.
Featuring traditional Polynesian crops such as mai’a (banana), kalo (taro), ‘uala (sweet potato), ‘awa (kava), niu (coconut), ‘olena (turmeric), ‘ulu (breadfruit), kō (sugar cane), and more, HIP Ag’s GRACE Garden at `Iole is designed to display diversity and abundance, while serving Kohala’s youth and community as an educational demonstration site.
HIP Ag offers youth programs, sustainable living courses and community workshops.
